Let’s get to know more about The Golden Talent, Roberta Battaglia.
BeyondUS: This year so far has been a challenge for everyone, and you had one more battle to fight, which is showing your talent to the world. What were the crucial moments in 2020 for you?
Roberta: It was probably was on the second day of June, when I got the Golden buzzer, actually that was the day when I watched it on TV because we had recorded it months before, on that day people were texting and calling me saying: “Oh my Gosh, you got the Golden Buzzer,” and I had people crying on reaction. It was such a fun experience, being on AGT, it was one the most memorable moments.
BeyondUS: AGT is a stage for people around the world. How do you see this interaction with talents from different cultures and countries?
Roberta: It definitely feels great to get to know some of the contestants, I did get to interact with Double Dragon and a few more contestants, it feels really nice to know their culture, it is amazing to get to know people during this wonderful journey, they make it very fun and it is great to have them.
BeyondUS: You were at AGT and experienced the audition with a full place, and suddenly the pandemic came and everything was different. How are the emotions with and without people cheering for you?
For me it was not that hard, but the energy of the crowd can cheer you up, people clapping, screaming, yelling, it is good, you like that. But unfortunately we had to do without the crowd and it was for the good. Every contestant had to deal with it.
BeyondUS: How is your routine during this pandemic?
Roberta: Covid-19 has being dramatic and has been taking a big part of our lives this year. I kept singing at home, mostly the way we do things has being very, very different, but we found ways to use our time; I have being baking with my mom, singing with my dad, spending quality time with my family, watching movies and playing with my dog. Also I‘m still active on social media, and I‘m doing school in the morning.
BeyondUS: Social media gave people what they didn’t have before, the possibility to express all the feelings to a mass audience; it could be love, hate, pain or other things. What kind of feeling would you like to trigger amongst your audience?
Roberta: I just want to say: always follow your dreams, never give up and never let anyone tell you that you are not good enough to do something because I believe that if you put your mind into anything you‘d like to accomplish you can definitely do it, so never stop believing in yourself.
BeyondUS: Talking about bullying, we know you suffered it in the past. From your young perspective, how is the best way to get away from it with no breaking feelings?
Roberta: Always consult an adult, because it is a very serious matter, you really need to be strong and, as they say, what does not kill you makes you stronger, so you have to show them that you are stronger and that you have a voice. Always break your silence.
